A Father Like No Other
My dearest Father, may my friend know they can come to you just as they are. This truth is one of the things I love most about you. Nothing to tidy up. No pretense. No cover-up. You embrace them no matter the state of their heart. Thank you.
You always love their company. You’re continually elated to spend time with them. May they know, time together never grows old in your heart.
Just this morning, as you ushered in the sunrise and watched them awake to a new day, you welcomed them with a song.
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
A Friend Like No Other
Father, for my friend’s heavy heart today, I offer up this morning prayer. May your comfort and presence keep them at rest. May your warmth soothe their soul. God, please attend to their most profound need today.
You know them inside and out, head to toe. Only you know the language of their soul. Only you know how to calm the storm within. Silence the whirlwind of destructive and discouraging thoughts blowing through their mind. Infuse them with your magnificent unconditional love. Turn their thoughts to hope, for you are with them. Always with them.
Jesus, you too were well acquainted with sorrow. A man of sorrows who understands the heaviness of their heart today.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18
A Love Like No Other
Abba Father, there is no end to your goodness. There is no boundary to your power, and nothing can stop the pursuit of your loving-kindness. Like the sand on the shores. Like the stars in the skies. Too many to count.
Amazing Grace, this is who you are, sweet Jesus. Reveal your love for my friend today in ways they won’t miss or ignore. Reveal your love for them in ways that thrill their heart. Recalibrate their minds with your unending love. Cause them to know, to believe, and to live loved. For with you, loved they will always be.
Fix their eyes on you alone. Comfort them as they look to you. For you will calm all their fears and hold sacred their every tear. You will keep them and sustain them with your love. Always and forever. Amen.
